Why visit

The Exotenhaus presents around 40 different tropical animals in terrariums: lizards, turtles, snakes, amphibians, insects, spiders and scorpions. A highlight is the three-metre, 2,000-litre marine aquarium with coral fish and living corals. The butterfly section is currently closed.

The exhibition is step-free and can be visited with a pushchair, making it a good family activity even in wet weather. Children can compare different species of reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates at close range.

Combine the visit with a walk through the spa town of Jonsdorf. At Gondelfahrt pond there are boats, ducks, fish and a children's playground; stronger walkers can also explore the Jonsdorf rock town and other marked trails nearby.

On warm days, add a swim at the local mountain pool. Exotenhaus can therefore be a destination for a shorter part of the day or a stop on a longer trip into the Zittau Mountains.
