Why visit
From Krompach, follow the red trail up Hvozd, a prominent 749-metre border summit. The six-and-a-half-kilometre loop offers a mountain walk, far-reaching views and refreshments at the top.
The stone Hochwaldturm lookout stands on the German side of the summit. In good visibility it overlooks the Lusatian Mountains, the Zittau Basin and more distant ridges.
The Hochwaldbaude mountain lodge stands right by the summit and offers a place to stop for food. Check the opening times of both the lodge and the lookout tower before setting off.
Krompach can also be reached by bus from Cvikov. The route follows forest paths and is rocky in places, so it is not suitable for pushchairs.
